Big John Buscema: Comics & Drawings Reviews
John Buscema was one of the all-time great comic book artists, and one of my personal favorites. I have a few books about him, but I think this is the best, in terms of the content and the quality of the printing and production. I learned some background biographical information, which I really enjoyed. It is also overflowing with Buscema's fantastic art, from rough sketches to finished work, from all points in his career, and it is beautiful. The book also has a fair amount of analysis and criticism of Buscema's work, as well as the work of inkers and writers that he worked with. A lot of books like this don't really get into critiques, but just give the biographical information and praise the artwork presented. The analysis and criticism was interesting and thought-provoking at times, and I can only say that sometimes I agreed and sometimes I didn't. Regardless, it is a great book for any John Buscema fan, and I would highly recommend it.
Fantastic book about the great artist John Buscema finally gets his due in a great biography with a fantastic sampling of his art from throughout his career . This book is also made me a bigger fan of his work he was truly one of the masters of comic art form.
self-proclaimed craftsman not genius, given enough time he could've created masterpieces. but what was wrought, such beautysnatched from the daily grind,so oftenwas truly remarkable.
More like 4.5 stars. Some great art and a swift overview of Big John's comic work. I like seeing his early stuff before the Avengers as I had never seen them before.
